Nordic Youth Camp 2015, Västervik

The Swedish Climbing Federation would like to invite Nordic young climbers to the Nordic Youth Camp 2015 in Västervik. The purpose of the camp is to form friendships and create inspiration and development among junior climbers and their coaches across the Nordic borders.
Västervik is a small well known tourist town by the Baltic Sea, 300 km south of Stockholm, famous for its archipelago consisting of 5000 islands. It’s easy to get here by car, bus or train.

Camp program During the camp the participants will be able to do both sport climbing and bouldering. The plan is to also have one tourist excursion day and to arrange technical training sessions at our indoor climbing centre or at the basecamp. Stefan Rasmussen, famous Swedish boulderer, will hold a lecture about bouldering in our basecamp and workshop at two boulder areas.
29th June – Arrival day, registration and own activities. We will be available at basecamp for registration and accommodation as well as for guidance on what to do if you have arrived early and have some free time. 18:00 welcome dinner, official start of the camp.
30th June – climbing on sports crags, boulders and security check of all participants,
1st – 4th July – climbing on sports crags and boulders. One of the days will be a rest day with activities other than climbing. 4th July goodbye dinner
5th July – Leaving day, breakfast and goodbyes. Official closing of the camp.
Accommodation

We will be staying at Åby herrgård, 300 m from Gamleby bus and railway station. This will be our basecamp where we sleep and enjoy most of our meals. There are many small rooms and we will sleep on mattresses. In the building are conference halls, showers, sauna and a kitchen. Nearby, within walking distance, are two granite sport climbing crags, Garpedans and Dynestad.
You can take a swim after the climbing at Hammarsbadet in Gamleby bay, in the Baltic Sea, 2 km from the basecamp. Lunch will be enjoyed outdoors at the crag or beneath the boulder.
Participation and registration
The camp is open for all climbers from 14 to 19 years of age (born 1996 – 2001). The only requirements are that the climber knows how to belay and is able to climb grade 6a.
Everyone should bring their own climbing equipment. We have several crashpads but we have to share and wish that Swedish participants bring their own pads.
Each country is can send up to 10 participants, and at least one leader who is above 22 years of age and has a driving license. If there are 7 or more participants from one country, there should be an extra adult. The head leader from each country participates for free. Head leader must bring to the camp a list of all participants, with ICE contacts, and inform us ahead of any food and other allergies, illnesses or other special needs.
Transportation to the different climbing areas is by minibuses, for the leaders to drive. Please inform us if you bring a vehicle that can be used during camp.
Registration deadline is 15.4.2015 and after that, if some countries have not filled their national quotas, others can bring more junior climbers.

Fee
Swedish participants pay 600:- per participant. Information about payment will be emailed to accepted participants.
Camp fee is 2900 SEK for other Nordic participants. The fee covers accommodation, all meals and transportation during the camp. You will receive information about payment from your federation.
